Red Zinnias
2 02 2007Ah red. I am so attracted to this color. If you walk into my house almost every room has at least a little touch of red (not every room but almost!) My kitchen is painted a wonderful deep shade of red. The color of blood, red symbolizes life and vitality. It also symbolizes passion and fire. In Feng Shui, red is associated with romance, wealth, and happiness. I suppose it is no wonder I am attracted to it.
This painting is 12 inches high by 6 inches wide. It is painted on a gallery wrapped canvas, and the edges are finished off with a color that coordinates with the painting.

Me too — at least some red in every room!
I like this painting, did you paint this looking at a set up of the flowers?
Thanks Debi,
Yes, but admittedly I take great liberties with still lifes, especially with the backgrounds. It’s such a common subject for painting, and it’s just more fun for me to lend a little abstraction and play around with color.
Best wishes,
Jennifer
