New coastal sunset landscape painting; “Finale”
18 09 2007Fresh off the easel, this painting is of a spectacular sunset we saw on one of our trips to the Outer Banks of North Carolina this summer. It’s Silver Lake Harbor on Ocracoke Island, to be exact. This painting and other recent landscapes will be included in my upcoming show called “Luminosity”.

“Finale”
Oil on Canvas, 24×36″

I’m calling this piece “Finale” (as in “the grand finale”) because, like a finale in a live orchestral performance, sunsets are like nature’s final performance of the day. They never fail to dazzle, and yet no two performances are ever exactly the same.

Very Nice Jennifer… you so captured that scene and you did the OBX justice with that painting
Very beautiful and peaceful. Love it.
Jenny and Paula,
Thank you so much! I am having a wonderful time painting scenes of the Outer Banks….I love it down there, especially down near Hatteras. I have a new OBX piece on my easel I’ll be posting soon, so stay tuned!
Jennifer, I love the contrast in mood and texture from the turbulent clouds to the calm water. Just beautiful!
Thank you Kathy,
This painting is special to me. The scene was from a recent visit to Ocracoke my husband and I made to celebrate my birthday. We got a couple of cloudy, windy days, but the reward was that during the clearing we had magical sunsets like this. The saying “there is an up-side to everything” certainly applied here!
The Outer Banks is one of my favorite vacation spots. Lovely job on this painting!
Doris
Doris,
We have something in common then. I love the OBX. This year I had my first introductions to both Ocracoke and Hatteras and I am definitely smitten. Thank you for your encouragement!
