Lakeside Chalet

1 04 2008

I’m not sure if this painting is finished yet, but I feel like I’ve been looking at it for so long that I can’t see it any more. Time to get it off of my easel for a while and work on something else! This is one of two Lake Como paintings I started working on side-by-side:

lake como Italian villa chalet painting
“Lakeside Chalet”
Oil on Canvas, 30×40″

I eventually left off of this method and focused on one painting at a time. I think working back and forth might be okay if I have one small painting and one large, but with two big ones it was getting me nowhere fast.

We’ve had some gloomy weather this week and between that and the wet glare of this painting I’m having a hard time getting a good photograph. Once I reshoot it in better conditions I’ll upload it to my website  (Update: Sunshine today! Image reshot). Meanwhile, please contact me for more info about this piece.

Jennifer,
Beautiful scene and painting! I know how one can become “numb” to their work after looking at a piece for so long. I have a piece that I’ve been trying to complete for three months! Last night I photographed it and uploaded to the computer to work on it in photoshop. I then decided to scrape off a lot of paint in certain areas to completely rework. First time to do that! Shoot, now I’ll still be working on this painting until the end of time.
I have some suggestions for this painting if you want some. I’ll send them by email.
The sun WILL come out.

Thanks Marilyn! The sun’s out today. Hooray! Hopefully I can get a better image of the painting up soon.

Jennifer,

As a response to your lakeside chalet painting I am doing a painting that I call “Lagoon Como”. Also why wasn’t I informed about this May trip to France? Thanks a lot for inviting us. Will I be expected to keep making random remarks on your blog while you are in France?

Rick,
Maybe “Lagoon? Como?” would be a better title? Sorry I didn’t clue you in to the May trip to France. You were on my call list, but actually I just got “clued in” two weeks ago! Believe me, part of the fun (for me) is planning 8 months in advance for an overseas trip. (But then, I’m kind of geeky-sick that way. )

Yes, please do continue your taunts while I’m in France. I’m convinced that’s why the few people who are tuning in here are doing so to begin with. Plus, I”m thinking of trying to convince my husband Dave to guest blog while I’m gone…so I think you two will do a good job of egging each other on.
