Lot Valley, France painting (WIP)
4 08 2008Lest you think all I’m doing is sitting around daydreaming about a new art studio, I thought I’d share a snapshot of a painting I’m working on from my last trip to the French countryside:

After working so often on small pieces lately, it feels good to be getting into something larger. This one’s 24×36″.

Hi, Jennifer. You’ve been missed, but I know you are involved in exciting but busy projects.
So glad to see your new work. I can see much influence from all your recent plein air work. Your brush strokes are looser (especially in the trees and brush) and your greens hues are broader in range. Your studio work is really taking on a plein air look which I know is probably your goal. Really lovely work!
Thanks Marilyn,
Yes, I do have a number of goals regarding my work, and while I feel like I’ve been moving towards this certain direction for some time, it’s gelling a lot more for me now –what I want, and who I am and want to be. Not sure if I can really articulate it well at this point, but I know the feeling of it, if that makes any sense? And the plein air painting is a big part of that.
I’m sure this moving stuff is going to seem crazy for a while on the surface, but it does line up with my artistic goals, so I guess it’s just a matter of keeping my eye on the prize.
