Landlocked

28 10 2009

The Paint Annapolis plein air exhibition ended on Sunday, so on Monday I drove up to Annapolis to pick up unsold work from the competition. It would have been nice to do some more painting up there while I was at it, but I had to get back home so it was rather a whirlwind trip. I rather like this little skipjack, patiently waiting for some action as it sits in a drive just behind a veggie garden. It’s probably my favorite piece from the event.

I always love to see your plein air work - so colorful and full of life. I’m also looking forward to seeing your previous studio painting completed although I love the way it looks now with the block-in. The composition and color hues and tones already tell us all we need to know, well, very close! It will be beautiful!

Your paintings are beautiful. Our Wendy is a plein air painter of the Sonoma County wine country and she would like to paint in Italy. I found your site when I was searching for information for her on painting in Italy. How long have you been painting? It must be incredible to be outdoors and paint the scene in front of you rather than stare at a wall in an office . . .

A belated thanks for the comments y’all. I’m struggling right now with the flu. So far, no squealing, so I’m assuming it’s the regular variety and that I’ll be back posting soon.

@ Catherine- I’ve been painting professionally for about 15 years. Making art in general for a longer time. I should think that there are many ways to go about painting in Italy– a very attainable dream for many a determined artist, I think. Keep dreaming the dream!
