Commissioned paintings for Frances Mayes’ Tuscan Sun Wines

Speaking of commissions, I thought I would share a few details of what for me was a rather exciting (and consuming) commission this past winter:

Italy painting for Frances Mayes' Tuscan Sun Wine labels

Tuscan Sun Wines, LLC of Denver, Colorado, commissioned me to create seven paintings of the Italian countryside for their exclusive use on a new line of wine labels for writer Frances Mayes, author of Under the Tuscan Sun.

Each of the seven oil paintings portrays a theme that is central to life in Cortona, Tuscany and “Bramasole,” Mayes villa made famous by Under the Tuscan Sun. Listed here are pictures of my favorite pieces completed for this project. If you follow this link it will take you to the wine distributors website where you can see how the paintings look on finished labels!

  1. Jennifer this is so exciting! Also reminds me of my trip to Cortona with a group of painters a couple of years ago….. we were standing and looking at these very scenes! such wonderful memories! May have do drink some of the wine as well! Good job lady! you inspire me!!!

  2. Thank you Marty! It was a really interesting project and I am grateful to have been a part of it. Like you, it whet my whistle for more touring of Tuscany, and Cortona in particular. We are hoping to return next year. A bit harder to manage with a young daughter, but not impossible (especially once she is potty trained!)

  3. I am a friend of Frances. I am heading to Cortona this Saturday to help her promote the Tuscan Sun Wine Brand. I am the chief of business development for The Chatterworks Group Social Media Company and would love at some point to interview you about the art work for the very well read blog TheDailyBasics where art is heavily promoted. Art, food , wine, authors etc. Over 1 million hits a month. We can speak directly when I get back if that works for you we would love to help promote your art.

Thanks for your time, the painting and the labels are quite lovely

  4. Robin,
I would be delighted to talk with you and I really appreciate your interest. I will definitely tune in to your blog so that I can experience vicariously this most exciting event in Cortona. I look forward to talking with you when you return!
