About

Jennifer YoungGreetings! I am a near daily painter who creates vibrant landscape oil paintings of France, Italy, and the American south. I say near daily because I also run my own studio gallery in Richmond Virginia, design and update my website, hold painting workshops and show my work in other galleries. So I while I have a lot going on, I still manage to paint about 5 days/ week, unless I’m pulling my hair out trying to figure out computer stuff, or teaching or cleaning my studio for a show or on the road traveling! :-)

Speaking of traveling, I am also an avid traveler, which is quite a passion and a habit of mine that is a good complement to painting landscapes (since I often paint outdoors en plein air.) All of my landscapes are of actual places that I have visited, sketched, painted and photographed.

You will find my biographical summary and resume, plus most recent and available paintings on my website: jenniferyoung.com.  In addition to my paintings, I offer a selection of printed reproductions of my work in the form of giclee prints, note cards, and other fun stuff.

My blog is a way to share information about my upcoming projects and shows, and also to share some of my ideas, inspirations, and techniques. My website has a lot of this information also, but, my blog will be a place to post some of my more experimental works, sketches and works in progress, plus painting tips and demos.

Hi Joan,
Thanks for your nice comments about my site. Yes, I do know Laura and have always intended to go to Nimrod for their independant painting week but have never made it (yet). Every year I seem to have a trip that conflicts with the Nimrod week. Have heard it is very beautiful around there.

As for your trip, if you want to take a workshop in Europe, there are a ton of offerings out there, but I have no experience to recommend one. When I go I just go and paint on my own, and do all of my own planning. If you are interested in doing that, you might want to check out Slow Travel. It is an excellent resource!

Best wishes,
Jennifer

Jennifer:

Once more, I am amazed and flabbergasted (an inelegant word, but it expresses what I feel), at the wealth of talent and beauty displayed on your website. I never get finished looking and enjoying, but after each visit, I have to tear myself away and then promise myself to come back and visit again on another day. Congratulations on your beautiful gallery, the opening, and the other upcoming shows and exhibits. From afar, your loving Mom.

Mom,
Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving your sweet message. I’m just happy that I inherited some of your artistic genes! :-) I am glad you liked the new gallery pictures. It is in a really pretty part of downtown and I can’t wait until you come up here and see it for yourself.

Much love,
Jennifer

What a beautiful two paintings of Tilghman.
I have a house there and you’ve really captured the outerworldliness…
Have you done more of the island?
Thank you so much…

jennifereyoung (06:03:00) :

Thank you Peter! :-) I really loved Tilghman Island and this general area of Maryland’s Eastern Shore. I have one more painting so far that I did on location in Tilghman. You can see it here. You might also be interested in my blog posts about my recent visit up to your neck of the woods:

I look forward to creating more works of this area and to a return visit to Tilghman…I’m in Virginia so I’m not too far away.
