In
July of 2002 I traveled to France to paint "en plein air" (a French expression
meaning "in the open air"). I visited the northern region of
Provence called "La Drome", and stayed in the little farm town of La Begeude
de Mazanc. I have never seen such color as I did in Provence. The light
was spledid and hills went on forever! I painted many scenes like this
one when I was on location in Provence during the summer of 2002. I completed
this painting in my studio from studies and photographs composed on site
