This is an early morning scene from a recent painting trip I made to Nelson County in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. The light was soft and the meadow fresh with dew and butter cups. As I watched these cows I was amazed at their ability to continuously munch away at the grass. They barely came up for air! However, for all of their busy activity they seemed content in their endless chewing. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it.
