Italy is a country that captured my heart from the very first moment I put my foot on its soil. It is filled with gorgeous cities, rolling hills, cypress trees, and terra cotta rooftops. Don't even get me started on the food! I have been to Italy many times and have travelled to many of its beautiful cities. The villages and hill towns are lovely and filled with charm, and I dream of returning again and again with paints and easel in tow.

About the Painting:

Several times I have had the great fortune to travel to Italy and it has always held a special place in my heart. On my last trip I visited many areas in southern Tuscany, and I was awed by the beauty and drama of the landscape. I saw this scene while driving through a region called La Crete, just south of Siena. We spent the day driving along the back roads and we pulled over to take in many views like this one, down into the valley. I do not knowthe name of the church. It was just sitting placidly in the countryside at the end of this pathway, guarding the gateway to a gorgeous valley beyond. I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it!
