Several times I have had the great fortune to travel to Italy, and my times in Tuscany are ones I will never forget. On my last trip I visited many areas in southern Tuscany, and I was awed by the beauty and drama of the landscape. This is a view of the Orcia Valley (Val d'Orcia in Italian) . This is a beautiful region of softly rolling hills, and winding roads punctuated by cypress trees. In the spring the landscape is prolific with poppies and other wildflowers. Traveling with my husband, I spent time in this region driving through the countryside, sketching and photographing the area, as well as stopping off to visit some lovely villages. I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it! *You can read a bit more about this painting on my blog. |
