Plein air landscape paintings and field studies of Europe and the American South

These are all paintings I have done on location (en plein air). Many of these paintings (such as those in the James River Series) were done near where I live in Richmond, Virginia. But also included in this gallery are paintings I have done during my travels to other beautiful locations in North America and in Europe. These paintings are often complete works in and of themselves, but they can also serve as studies for larger works that I may choose to create in the studio. The understanding that I have gained from direct observation in the field has been immeasurable to my growth as a landscape painter. There is nothing like painting that ever changing light!
