I was fortunate to have been invited by the Ashland Garden Club to paint en plein air during their Historic Garden Week garden tour.  I painted in a location called "The Cutting Garden" off of Mount Herman Road in Hanover County, just beyond the town of Ashland. This private property is a wonder, rambling over a number of acres. It features pasture, a man-made pond, a stream running through a woodland sanctuary,  as well as more formal gardens surrounding a pool. It was a rainy morning, but even in the rain, these gardens were so lovely that my greatest difficulty by far was not the weather, but deciding where to paint!
