Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting: One of my favorite pastimes in Key West is to just ride a bike around in the sun and enjoy the charming houses and colors. Every street and alley way holds patterns of shade and color so enticing to a painter's eye. I'm from Virginia, an area too cold to grow most palms. Therefore, I especially enjoy seeing the palm trees down south, and I love the shadow patterns cast by their willowy forms. I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it!
