Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting:

This painting is of the countryside near Staunton, Virginia. It captures my favorite time of day when the evening sky puts on a brilliant show. The title comes from a poem by Longfellow called “The Children’s Hour” (one of my mother’s favorite and oft quoted poems.)

This painting is a versatile size and works well in an entry way over a hall table or console. At left you can see one of the many ways this painting can be displayed. For more ideas on how to hang this piece, click here.
