Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting: In the spring I like to go up to the mountains around Charlottesville Virginia to paint en plein air. This is a scene I painted in Crozet Virginia. I painted a small version of this scene on location in the early spring when the apple orchards were still blooming. I loved the scene so much that I later developed this larger version in my studio using my plein air painting as a reference. I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it!
