Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting: This is a scene of the striking landscape surrounding St. Simons Island, Georgia. It is a gorgeous area full of marsh wetlands and live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss. One of the most dramatic characteristics of this area is the way the sky's reflections on the water cuts through the marshes' grassy reeds. I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it!
