I
painted this scene from a study I did "en plein air" during
my travels to Normandy and Provence in the spring of 2003. During that
time, I received special permission to paint in Monet's garden on a day
when it was closed to the public. It is an experience I will never forget!
I really enjoyed finally seeing for myself the beautiful water gardens
designed by the famous Impressionist. It was a wonderous place full of
soft color. The floating lilies gave the scene a magical air, and the
distance shows the famous footbridge dripping with wisteria. I hope you
enjoy viewing this painting as much as I enjoyed making it!
