About the painting:
This is a painting of the beautiful marshes of Chincoteague Island in Virginia. I painted a smaller version of this scene on location as the sun rose and developed this larger work back home in my studio. It is always exciting to watch the sky light on fire during a sunrise or sunset. No two are ever the same and you never know just what gifts await you. The color and light are fleeting but the magical display makes it well worth the wait.
