Winter Solstice reception Friday at Glave Kocen Gallery

winter plein air painting by Jennifer YoungThis is a cross-posting with my newsletter so I hope that the readers of both will forgive the repetition. If you are in the Richmond area, I will be participating in a group invitational this Friday night at Glave Kocen Gallery. I will be one of ten artists featured for this one night event exhibiting winter themed art. But this is not just an art show. It's also a fundraiser for a great cause. Spearheaded by The 1000 Strong Project, proceeds from the sale of the show will benefit Comfort Zone Camp (CZC). CZC offers free camps for kids nationwide who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. The 1000 Strong Project has also produced some great art calendars (in which my art will also be featured) that will be sold at the reception to benefit the charity. james river plein air painting by Jennifer YoungSo if you are in Richmond, come out for some fun, see some great winter-themed art, pick up some calendars for holiday gifts, and support a great cause. Here are the details:

New stuff coming soon, I promise!

I have many notes on things I'd like to blog about, but it seems this whole month has been crammed packed with activity. I'm getting ready for the art walk this Friday, and  a trip to France in just over a couple of  weeks.  But I will post new work this week, even if it's just a few small plein air pieces. And I've plenty of other things I'd like to write about too, if I can find the time:

I may not get to everything, but I will surely get to a number of these topics over the next couple of weeks before I sign off to head for 10 days of computer-free travel.

Upping the Ante

It's been a while since I've listed a new "Art for Food" auction for the Central Virginia FoodBank, so I'm upping the ante by listing a new acrylic painting. This is a 7 day auction with an opening bid of $24.99. This one does have a low reserve ($50) but it's still a bargain and 95% of the proceeds go to the FoodBank.

It's been a while since I've worked in acrylic and I had a lot of fun with this one. I'm listing this one in the evening because I'm heading out for most of the day on Friday to do some plein air painting. Have a great weekend!

Art in Bloom V this Thursday at Stir Crazy Cafe

I don't know how much time I'll have to blog this week as I'm getting ready for a full workshop this weekend. But I did want to mention a fun local art event on Thursday night. Please join us and bring a friend to the 5th Annual Art In Bloom at Stir Crazy. This show will include a few  of my plein air paintings of the Richmond area, plus lots of other great art from over a dozen local artists. Proceeds from art sales support Children's Miracle Network-Richmond. It is always a great time and it is for a good cause. Drop by for a few minutes after work or make an evening of it; the event will run from 6 - 9 p.m this Thursday evening.

When: Thursday, April 10, 6:00PM Location: Stir Crazy Cafe, 4015 MacArthur Avenue, Richmond, VA 23227
