Springtime in Tuscany is a time like no other. It is filled with warmth, but the searing sun of summer still holds its fire. In many parts of the countryside, wildflowers blanket the fields and roadways. The warmth of the flowers is offset by the silver foliage of olive groves and cool blue of the mountains. in the regions of Val d’ Orcia and La Crete, so-called “white roads” cut meandering paths through the countryside. They are, in fact, pale colored earth, but give a striking white appearance from a distance.
